Guy "Bubba" Walters, a lifelong educator, coach and community volunteer, has officially announced his candidacy for Kerr County Commissioner Pct. 4. Walters and his wife, Sherri, have called Kerr County home since 1997, raising their two children here and investing decades of service into local schools, youth programs, and community organizations.
"I believe Kerr County's best days are ahead. I want to continue serving my neighbors by listening, leading with integrity, and working hard to make Precinct 4 a place where families thrive."
Education & Career
Born in San Antonio in 1967, Walters earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a minor in History from the University of Texas-Pan American. He went on to serve more than 30 years in public education, notably at Center Point ISD, where he worked as athletic director and head coach in football, baseball, and powerlifting.
He successfully managed a $500,000 annual budget, oversaw a staff of 11 coaches and maintained district athletic facilities.
Coaching
Following his retirement from public education, Walters continued coaching with the Alaska Baseball League and at Angelo State University, helping lead the Rams to the NCAA Division II baseball championship — an experience made even more meaningful as he coached alongside his son.
He has also continued supporting Ingram ISD and providing private baseball and softball lessons to young athletes.
Community Service
Walters' community service spans Ingram and Center Point Little Leagues, the Kerrville Indian Select Baseball Club, and the Kerr County and District stock shows. He currently serves on the Zion Lutheran Church Community Fund and is active on the Ingram Little League Rebuild Committee following the July 4 flood.
